My dad loved Holden Statesmans. We had 3 in a row when i was a kid. A brown one in the late 70's, a lime green one in the early 80's [my mums favourite colour!] and a blue one in the mid 80's. In fact, my dad only just sold his last one - to my brother! I remember them being built like tanks and everyone thinking we were really rich [they were very expensive in those days]. We lived in the country and dad drove us to school in the city every day. He used to smoke and have his window down. We would be rugged up in our duffle coats freezing, while he had a short sleeve shirt on in the middle of winter! Dad loved the power of the V8 being an ex truckie and used to love overtaking lane hoggers on the freeway... sometimes in the emergency lane! Nowadays I can't believe how big those cars are... they are massive inside. My brother is now doing up my dad's old Statesman and loves it.
